Boracay Traditional Calendar of Festivals & Events
The well-known Ati-Atihan Festival also takes place every January in Kalibo in nearby Panay Island. A much smaller Ati-Atihan festival is celebrated on Boracay, usually in the second or third week of January.
Of the various fiestas and celebrations held on the island, the Boracay Dragon Boat Festival ranks as one of the best and most watched. For many people, no visit to the island would be complete without seeing this event.
The competition is held in Boracay island on the second week of July. You can reach any point on the island by riding a tricycle. Just tell the driver you want to see the festival; you will be taken to the site.
WHAT TO SEE
Fire Dance is one of the things you will see and experience when you visit Boracay. This is a dance where the dancer carries a couple of small flaming containers and dances freestyle or depending on the type of music they are dancing. The fire container is suspended on a metallic chain and one end is secured on the fingers of the dancer. The dancers will see to it that the fire will not throw away to the audiences.
